WALL.E

This was the result of a night of Lego building. I was amazed to see what actually could be built just from random Lego parts. Knowing a lot of Izaac's sets I can see parts from his Batman set, his construction crane set, and if you look very closely WALL.Es hands are made from Lego people legs.

And to think, when I was growing up all I could build with Legos was a stair case:-)

A Few Updates...but still no pictures:-(

I have not written in awhile because I was determined that my next post would have pictures on it...but that is not to be.

Anyway, Izaac's teacher meeting went OK. I don't feel like rehashing the whole thing, but I do feel that she thinks Izaac needs medication to concentrate on his work and to be less impulsive. I listened and considered things and with much discussion with Tobie, family and friends will not be going to "see" the doctor until his normal 6 year old appointment. He is doing very well academically and I wonder if this is causing some problems. So for right now we are taking things one day at a time. We have decided that unless he does something really bad at school, he is not going to get punished a second time at home. It did not seem to be helping anything, so now we are just trying to reward hard work and excellent behavior. And his report card was really pretty good, seeing that with all the bad reports I got home, he only received one "N" in conduct and it was for concentrating on his work, everything else was listed as "S" . So I am done worrying about it now...9 weeks left anyway.

Last weekend was pretty much a nightmare. Tobie awoke Saturday morning with what we think was a migraine...he suffered all day in bed trying many different medicines to help. Around 6:30pm after a miserable day, he decided that he needed to go to the ER. We got seen in a fairly decent time for the ER and he was actually getting worse while we were waiting so it was a good thing we went. After two doses of pain meds we finally made it home around midnight. The migraine lasted for awhile longer but at least we were able to help keep it under control with pain meds. What a way to spend your birthday:-(

So we are now on the hunt for a family doctor in the Friendswood area...If you have any suggestions please feel free to let us know, we are taking recommendations at the moment:-)

So we are hoping this weekend will be very uneventful.

Death to Glasses

Well we have officially killed the first pair of glasses that Izaac has owned. Luckily it was at the hands of the eyeglass technician at the Optometry group we go to. Also, they do not advertise it very well, but we apparently have a 1 year warranty on those suckers!!!! Yea us!!!

The lady did not seem to please when she came out with the two pieces in her hand, and proceeded to tell me that I can only replace them once it that warranty period...AND! The kid needs glasses! Replace them...for free that is:-)

I have also made it a huge point that I would only go there to have them adjusted...I feel good right now about that decision! Again, Yea us!!!!

Kindergarten Drama

Well, I will have my first parent/teacher conference based on the behavior of my son the Tuesday after Spring Break.

Why? Because, Izaac does not listen, follow directions, or keep his hands to himself. Izaac talks while teacher is talking, distracts the other students and "intentionally hurts his classmates".

Now here is my dilemma. He is doing very well academically. He is reading and doing math above grade level. But is not doing well with his behavior...so what is the problem. We punish him at home for behavior at school...He spends time in his room, he can not play the DS , he can not play with friends or go outside...what else is there. We even reward him if he comes home with 5 smiley faces in a row...This week he was determined to earn a Bacugaun(no clue how to spell that) This week...two smiley faces, two straight faces and today he earned a frown face. By Tuesday, he had already lost his prize. I even ask him why he does what he does and I get no real answer.

Most of you know that Izaac can not walk in a straight line to save his life! He reminds me of the Family Circus cartoons where the mom would ask the son to go get the mail and you would see the "crazy" path he would take to get to the mail box...that is Izaac. Now, I am sure that is not conducive to kindergarten...but he is 5!!! Now I know he can drive people crazy with the amount of energy he has, but I would not label him as hyperactive...which I am sure his teacher is thinking. But can hyperactive kids sit in one spot and work on a lego model for hours on end? Maybe I don't know the clinical definition, maybe I am just being over protective, maybe, maybe, maybe......`

Yes, I do feel that he is young for kindergarten and I do believe that it is a mistake to have full day kindergarten, but we have to make do with the situation.

Is he acting out because he is board, responding to others or is he just misbehaving to misbehave.

Today, he got in trouble for pulling a girls arm. Well, when we asked about it, she had been stepping on the back of his shoes so he pulled her arm...no, pulling her arm was not the right thing to do and we talk about that...but at the end, he is the one in trouble.

I don't know, I am just frustrated and do not know how to make it better. I told him, I am sad because I want him to enjoy kindergarten and have fun...but he can not do that sitting in time out all of the time...

I guess we will see what the teacher says on Tuesday. Thank goodness it is Spring Break. I am sure Izaac needs it, but I am especially sure his teacher needs it.

Have you ever...

had one of those evenings were your kids are just driving you crazy!!!! Tonight is that night. Ivy has not stopped crying/whining for longer than 10 minuets ever since I picked her up from day care. Just to show how bad it was tonight...she is practically hoarse from the strain of it all. And, to add kindling to the fire, Izaac has to constantly push her buttons...ahh the joys of parenthood.

But I would not give it up for anything. Im just glad that they are quiet right now:-)

Strange Habit

Ivy has this strange habit every night and nap time. When she is being tucked in she insists on having a book to cuddle...like most kids have a stuffed animal. Even tonight, when she fell asleep on the way home from my parents, I carried her up and as I was laying her down she goes "book." So I have to tuck one under her arm. I have tried to sneak out without doing it and she has a fit. Some nights it is a book and a stuffed animal, but she can sleep without the animal. This has been going on for quite awhile now...weird.

Quick Eye Update

Tobie took Izaac to the eye doctor last week and all seems to progressing well. The report I got was that his weak eye is up to 20/30 from 20/60. It will never reach 20/20, but we can live with that. When we started this, all he could read with his weak eye was the first row. He is now reading the third row down, still struggles but at least it is getting better. He did not need a new lens this time. So another month of patching...we shall see what comes of it next month.
